Hunter Safety Education Course
- Who: Fred Voss is a certified hunter safety instructor who lives in Anchorage, AK and is himself an avid hunter. He will be teaching anyone around 10 years old and older how to hunt safely and responsibly.
- What: Whether it's your first time hunting, or you're just looking for a refresher course, come learn how to be a safe and responsible hunter. (Anyone 16 and under must take this or a similar course before you can legally hunt.)
- When: April 4th from 6:30pm to 9:00pm and April 5th from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
- Cost: $10 to cover the cost of workbooks (or you can get your own at the Fish and Game department). These will need to be completed PRIOR to taking the class (or no certification can be issued) and will take some time. So don't wait! Pick up your book today!
Note: The Hunter Education Card that will be issued to those who pass the course is required for those under 16 years of age for young hunters before hunting in units 7, 13, 14, 15, 20:
If you are under 16 years of age, you must have either successfully completed a Basic Hunter Education course or be under the direct immediate supervision of a licensed hunter who is:
a) 16 years of age or older and has successfully completed a certified hunter education course, OR
b) born on or before January 1, 1986.
If you were born after January 1, 1986, you must have successfully completed a Basic Hunter Education course before you hunt in the units listed above. (2011-2012 Alaska Hunting Regulations page 13).
